Pay Range: $57,865.60 - $86,798.40

SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to assist Forrit Credit Union deliver on its Mission: Forward Together. Each Member. Each Moment. To achieve this mission the position must deliver high quality service to both internal and external members. In addition, the position performs a variety of duties and responsibilities related to operation, support and maintenance of all data processing systems and associated devices and equipment.

PRIMARY PURPOSE: The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in advancing Forrit’s mission of walking alongside members and the community. Reporting to and working closely with the Director of Development, this position is responsible for deepening Forrit’s presence and impact through meaningful community connections, strategic partnerships, and the delivery of financial education. Serving as a visible and active Forrit ambassador, the coordinator leads outreach efforts, facilitates educational programming, and supports volunteer initiatives. By fostering relationships with local organizations, schools, and affinity groups, and collaborating across internal teams, this role ensures that Forrit remains responsive, accessible, and rooted in the communities it serves

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

Serve as a Forrit ambassador by actively participating in community events, tabling opportunities, and public-facing activities alongside the Director of Development.

Represent Forrit at local chamber meetings, Rotary clubs, neighborhood associations, and other networking opportunities to build brand awareness and foster connections.

Host, facilitate, and deliver financial education presentations, workshops, and outreach events independently or in partnership with local organizations.

Develop, implement, and continuously improve financial education curriculum and outreach materials tailored to community needs.

Build and maintain strong relationships with local nonprofits, schools, government agencies, and affinity groups to identify collaborative opportunities and meet community needs.

Coordinate quarterly volunteer initiatives for staff in partnership with the Director of Development, ensuring alignment with Forrit’s mission and employee engagement goals.

Work directly with local high schools to plan and deliver the Bite of Reality financial simulation experience for students, acting as the lead contact and facilitator.

Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator for Forrit’s Community Advisory Board, managing meeting logistics, follow-up, and communication.

Track, evaluate, and report on community engagement efforts, including participation data, feedback, and outcomes, to measure impact and inform future strategy.

Stay informed on community trends, needs, and opportunities to proactively recommend new programs, partnerships, or events.

Coordinate with Branch Leads as needed to support staff engagement and presence at community events.

Act as the main point of contact for Leads and staff to share community-based leads, partnership opportunities, or local engagement ideas, and ensure timely follow-up and support.

Supports external and internal communications including bilingual (English/Spanish) copywriting, editing and publishing of materials and delivery across channels.

Meet or exceed goals set jointly with supervisor.

Maintain an annual performance rating of Commendable or above.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, education, community development, or a related field preferred.

Bilingual – fluent in both English and Spanish (spoken and written) required.

3 years or more of experience in a credit union strongly preferred.

Previous experience in community outreach, engagement, or public-facing service work preferred.

Experience facilitating workshops, trainings, or educational presentations is a plus.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences.

Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute events independently and as part of a team.

Demonstrated relationship-building skills and a collaborative, people-first mindset.

Comfortable speaking in public and representing the organization in both professional and informal settings.

Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends based on community event schedules.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for travel to community events and partner sites.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage, educate, and inspire diverse community audiences.

Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, both spoken and written, with the ability to present to groups in either language.

Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Strong public speaking and facilitation skills, especially in delivering educational content.

Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners, community groups, and internal team members.

Comfortable using Microsoft Office, digital collaboration tools, and basic event or education technology.

Ability to identify, analyze, and respond to community needs in alignment with Forrit’s mission.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift, carry, and transport event equipment and materials up to 40 pounds.

Frequent movement and activity at event sites, including setting up booths, displays, or presentation materials.

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods as needed during community events or outreach efforts.

Frequent travel between branches, schools, partner sites, and community events required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to support events and outreach efforts.

Regular travel throughout the local community is expected.

The role is based in a professional office environment but includes frequent offsite responsibilities in schools, partner locations, and event spaces.

May occasionally work outdoors during community events.
