The Supervisor, Shipping and Receiving handles shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory management. This role ensures timely, accurate shipments and receipts while adhering to quality standards and company policies. The supervisor manages the department and staff, ensuring organized and efficient handling of all items.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Lead, train, and supervise the shipping and receiving team. Offer support and performance feedback to ensure team efficiency. Oversee workers' activities in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping materials. Take corrective actions, including counseling, monitoring, training, and guiding employees.
Plan and coordinate the shipment of products, ensuring all orders are processed and dispatched in a timely manner. Address and resolve any issues that may arise during shipment. Monitor shipping orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit of said documents. Book and arrange shipments from and to vendors using a third-party Transportation Management System (TMS) platform. Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule the pick-up of goods.
Supervise the receipt of incoming products and materials, ensuring the accuracy of shipments and proper storage within inventory systems. Oversee all receiving operations, including the unloading and sorting of deliveries. Ensure that all incoming shipments are processed accurately and promptly. Monitor the precision of all receiving records, including inventory and stock levels, and identify and resolve any discrepancies.
Maintain a safe and organized warehouse environment.
Keep precise inventory records, carry out periodic audits, conduct cycle counts, and regulate stock levels to avoid shortages or overstock scenarios.
Ensure products meet company standards through quality control measures, including inspection and IMIR documentation by the Receiving Team, supervised by the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor. Resolve any discrepancies or damage during shipping and receiving.
Ensure all shipping and receiving activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
Manage and maintain all shipping and receiving documentation, including bills of lading, packing slips, commercial invoices, shipping labels, and inventory records.
Coordinate shipments with various departments, suppliers, and customers, and address any issues that arise. Provide management with regular updates on shipping and receiving activities.
Identify and implement solutions to enhance efficiency in the shipping and receiving processes, addressing and resolving logistical challenges promptly.
Ensure all shipping and receiving equipment is properly maintained and utilized. Schedule regular maintenance and repairs as needed.
Ensure the timely and accurate processing of RMAs (Return Materials Authorization) to facilitate efficient customer returns.
Performs other duties or responsibilities assigned over the course of employment.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
Certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
Understanding of international logistics, logistics principles, inventory management, and supply chain processes is essential.
Must have the capability to manage shipments from FedEx, UPS, and DHL. Proficiency in 5PL management is advantageous. Experience in manufacturing is essential.
3+ experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory management, with at least 2+ years in a supervisory role.
Familiarity with warehouse management systems and other related software tools, preferably Epicor.
Works independently and manages multiple tasks, prioritizing to meet deadlines. Exhibits organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail and accuracy to comply with regulations and maintain quality standards.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
Ability to lift and move heavy objects, stand or walk for extended periods, and work in a warehouse environment.
Flexibility in scheduling is required based on business needs. Starting times typically range between 6:00 and 8:00 am, with ending times between 2:30 and 4:30 pm, totaling an 8-hour workday.
Knowledge of warehouse procedures and equipment.
Able to read, speak and understand English text, instructions, and procedures.
Able bend, twist, turn, reach, and lift to 50 pounds.
Certified in operating a forklift or able to obtain certification within 60 days of employment.
Maintain 1) reliable and safe transportation to other Delphon facilities or for business travel, 2) valid State-issued drivers license, 3) proper vehicle registration, and 4) State-required minimum automobile insurance coverage requirement.
