Nelson Mullins, an AmLaw 60 law firm, is seeking an experienced User Administration Specialist to join our team. The User Administration Specialist is responsible for the accurate and secure administration of user identities, access permissions, and related systems across the firm. This role is critical to ensuring the integrity of account provisioning, access controls, and directory services—including Active Directory—while maintaining compliance with firm policies and external audit standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates a high degree of professionalism, attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will manage user and vendor accounts across the firm’s systems, including Active Directory, business applications, email, and mobile devices. You’ll handle account provisioning, de-provisioning, and updates for hires, terminations, transfers, and role changes. You’ll also manage user access, distribution lists, and security groups, ensuring alignment with firm workflows and tools. Your responsibilities include supporting mobile device users, coordinating voice systems, and maintaining accurate technical documentation. You’ll resolve Help Desk tickets efficiently and with a focus on customer service. You’ll also participate in audits and risk assessments related to identity and access management. You’ll look for opportunities to improve processes and contribute to refining our standard operating procedures. Collaboration with IT, HR, Security, and other teams is key to ensuring proper access governance. Finally, you’ll help enforce IT policies and communicate their implications clearly to users and stakeholders.
We Know You
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in user administration or a related IT support role. An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Proficiency with Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange administration is essential, along with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Attention to detail is critical, particularly when documenting and auditing account changes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to interact professionally and tactfully with employees at all levels. The candidate must also be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification such as CompTIA A+, Security+, or related credentials preferred.
Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment is a plus.
Understanding of audit and compliance frameworks related to access and identity management.
