Azure Network Engineer

The Azure Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing networking solutions within the Azure cloud platform. This includes configuring virtual networks, securing connectivity between on-premises and cloud environments, and ensuring optimal network performance and cost efficiency

Duties/Responsibilities:

Design and deploy Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), ExpressRoute circuits, VPN Gateways, Load Balancers, and other core networking components.

Implement and manage security controls such as Azure Firewall, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and Application Security Groups (ASGs) to protect cloud environments.

Establish and manage hybrid connectivity between on-premises environments and Azure, as well as region-to-region Azure networking.

Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to enhance speed, reduce latency, and optimize cost.

Diagnose and resolve network issues to ensure high availability, stability, and reliability.

Develop and maintain automation scripts and templates using tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates to streamline network provisioning and management.

Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations and ensure compliance with organizational and industry security standards.

Partner with cloud administrators, security engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to design and implement integrated Azure solutions.

Identify opportunities to improve network architecture, security posture, performance, and cost efficiency proactively.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and supporting Azure networking solutions.

Experience working in hybrid cloud environments (on-premises to Azure).

Experience with network security principles and applying Azure-native security tools.

Experience using automation tools for network deployment and management.

Azure Virtual Networks (VNets), Subnets, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways, Azure Load Balancers

Azure Firewall, NSGs, ASGs, DDoS Protection

Hybrid cloud connectivity (site-to-site VPNs, ExpressRoute circuits)

Network monitoring and diagnostics (Azure Network Watcher, Traffic Analytics)

Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)

Troubleshooting Azure network performance and availability issues

Understanding of routing, DNS, NAT, and network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP)

Strong documentation and compliance management skills

Collaboration and cross-functional teamwork abilities

Preferred Skills/Abilities:

Master’s degree

SC-100: Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect

SC-200: Microsoft Security Operations Analyst

SC-300: Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator

AZ-700: Designing and Implementing Microsoft Azure Networking Solutions

AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position (e.g., sitting or standing) for extended periods of time, typically in a cubicle environment (constant noise, fluorescent overhead lighting)

Frequent use of a computer, dual monitors, keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment such as a telephone, copier, and printer.

Must be able to communicate effectively, including exchanging information in person, in writing, by telephone, email or video conferencing.

Visual and auditory acuity required to perform job duties effectively, including reading, writing, and interpreting information on screens or in print.

Hand dexterity, fine motor skills needed to operate a keyboard and mouse efficiently

Must be able to commute to an office setting as required, which may include walking short distances and navigating an office environment.
