Summary:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing cloud systems that will adequately support the enterprise infrastructure of the organization.
Analyzes system requirements and defines system architecture that will meet business needs, including server infrastructure, capacity planning, storage requirements, and networking protocols.
The SSE diagnoses problems and provides recommendations for the improvement of existing and new systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Manage and administer the Microsoft Azure cloud environment, including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, and security policies.
Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region solutions within Microsoft Azure.
Manage and secure access controls of the cloud-based solutions.
Develop infrastructure as code (Iac) leveraging cloud native tooling to ensure automated and consistent platform deployments.
Plan, design, and execute on-premises to Azure server migrations.
Maintain hybrid connectivity between on-premises systems and the cloud environment.
Install, configure, test and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
Maintain and develop new security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
Monitor and test application performance for potential bottlenecks, identify possible solutions, and work with developers or vendors to implement those fixes.
Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks.
Ensure all systems are up to date and patched with the latest security updates.
Position Requirements:
Professional experience with 5 + years of Microsoft Azure management.
2+ years of experience with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (Paas).
Experience with IaC development with Ansible, Azure CLI, and PowerShell.
Proficient with GIT to perform source code management and CI/CD tooling.
Install, configure, and maintain VMware infrastructure in a 100% virtualized environment
Experience with VMware vCenter and vSphere a plus
Install, configure, and maintain servers and applications
Windows Server 2016 through 2025
Active Directory and GPO administration
Deploy, configure, and maintain Microsoft 365 infrastructure
Manage and monitor all installed systems and network infrastructure via reporting tools
Install, configure, and maintain all equipment at satellite and disaster recovery sites
Install, configure, and maintain backup infrastructure.
Strong foundation in systems administration and industry best practices
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server, VMware Certified Professional - VCP, Micorosoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) are highly desirable.
