What We’re Looking For:

If you have 12+ years experience in operating and managing satellite operations then you will be excited about the Mission Operations Lead opening with Iridium. You’ll be responsible for working with senior management to establish enterprise strategic plans and objectives as it relates to operations and maintenance. Your main focus will be developing, maintaining, managing, and implementing enterprise operations across the program. You’ll bring experience leading enterprise operations to ensure successful execution of the mission on behalf of the Space Development Agency (SDA) project.

This position requires an active/current Top-Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top-Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

What You’ll Do:

Be responsible for the programmatic level requirements for operations to include, but not limited to, budgeting, utilization, staffing, bug fixes, anomaly resolution, Working groups, and monthly reports

Assist on-site operators/leads as needed and monitor all operational systems, services, capabilities and supporting infrastructure, networks, and connectivity

Responsible for coordinating support to perform activities including, but not limited to, System Engineering, Integration, & Test (SEI&T) and stakeholder collaboration, business and process management, and on-call operations support

Ensure all operations personnel are appropriately trained and certified to perform designated duties

Establish appropriate processes, procedures, and checklists to maintain operations and take actions to rectify issues

Manage the lifecycle support for enterprise and mission services to ensure continuous operations

Develop, maintain, and provide updates to systems, maintenance, and training documentation for all deployed locations as documented in the Operations, Maintenance and Sustainment Plans

Be responsible for system maintenance and sustainment of all delivered capabilities and services

Support periodic maintenance and sustainment reviews and technical exchange meetings with stakeholders, reviewing deficiency reports, incidents, and coordinating maintenance activities

Be responsible for the 24/7 on-call support for enterprise and mission capabilities

Be responsible for providing operational inputs in proposals for new work

Be responsible for integrating new operational scope, capabilities, and/or projects with existing operations

Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and selection of operations personnel for the SDA Operation Centers

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline OR equivalent training and experience in lieu of degree

12+ years of relevant experience in the managing/operating ground station operation center

Effective Microsoft Office skills

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and confidently recognize and adapt to different communication techniques

Be a strategic thinker who demonstrates good judgment and decisiveness

Be able to analyze a situation or problem and come up with effective solutions

Can easily form relationships with executive leadership and encourage cross-functional team building

The ability to thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks according to deadline and budget limitations

Be proactive in finding new and enhanced ways of doing things and sharing your knowledge with others

Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:

Extensive knowledge of satellite or ground operations

Military/government experience in satellite and/or ground operations

We’ll also need you to:

Support occasional travel (less than 25% of the time)

Be a U.S. citizen

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in an office setting and is largely sedentary with the majority of the position working with a computer. The role typically requires the use of basic office equipment such as a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
