Associate Designer - Activewear

We’re a sustainably driven apparel brand specializing in recycled activewear and casual lifestyle clothing, and we’re looking for a Freelance Associate Designer to join our collaborative, purpose-led team. This is a hybrid role based in Columbus, OH, ideal for someone with strong design skills and a passion for innovation in eco-conscious fashion.

2.5 month assignment

Up to $35/hr

4 days a week on site- Fridays remote

Key Responsibilities

Support the Sr. Designer in building seasonal collections for assigned categories.

Research trends and help develop fresh silhouettes aligned with brand aesthetics and sustainability goals.

Create and maintain visual tools: sketches, line sheets (Google Slides), fabric swatches, color standards, and presentation boards.

Communicate daily with vendors/agents and internal cross-functional teams (PD, Sourcing, Merchandising).

Manage fabric and sample submissions, providing timely feedback to partners.

Coordinate category samples and CADs for line reviews and ensure alignment across the line.

Participate in fit sessions and implement revisions as needed.

Assist in developing seasonal tech packs and updating line sheets under Sr. Designer guidance.

Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in fashion design or product development, preferably within a retail or activewear brand.

Strong knowledge of fit, fabric development, garment construction, and sustainable materials.

Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field (preferred).

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; experience with PLM, Photoshop, and Google Slides a plus.

Highly organized with sharp attention to detail.

Strong communication skills—both verbal and written.

Collaborative, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to build quick rapport across teams.
