Akkodis is seeking a highly experienced Digital Systems Engineer in Bohemia, NY, to provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for advanced power systems used in military and commercial aerospace applications. This role focuses on key projects involving power conversion, interference blanking units, and reprogramming 270V DC systems to 28V DC and 3-phase AC outputs.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in embedded systems, control engineering, and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and is adept at bridging system-level design with firmware/software implementation.

Pay Range: $65-$78/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer-Facing Engineering

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical assumptions

ns.Support feasibility studies, scope estimation, and cost analyses for new power electronics and control system projects

Leverage data-centric methodologies to drive design decisions and optimize outcomes

Support concept reviews, technical risk assessments, and technology readiness level (TRL) evaluations

System Development & Integration

Develop digital system models and specifications based on the program and customer requirements

Design and implement firmware/software for control systems, communication protocols, and graphical user interface

Conduct system-level requirement reviews and ensure compliance with aerospace industry standards

Participate in hardware/software integration and testing efforts across the development lifecycle

le. Prepare technical proposals and documentation for internal and external review

Technical Standards and Compliance

Apply knowledge of military and commercial standards, including

Power quality

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)

Environmental and safety compliance

Software assurance (DO-178) and hardware assurance (DO-254) guidelines

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field

Minimum of 10 years of technical experience in avionics, embedded systems, or aerospace power production.

Proven experience in Hardware/Software integration and MBSE

Familiarity with Open Mission Systems (OMS), Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA), and secure data exchange standards

Proficiency with MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo, MagicDraw

Strong command of MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and System Composer

Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation and testing

Programming knowledge in C, Python, or a similar language

Understanding of CAN bus protocols (J1939), Ethernet communication, and data acquisition systems.

Desired Skills & Certifications:

Master’s Degree in a relevant technical discipline.

INCOSE certification or equivalent systems engineering credentials.

Familiarity with DoDI 5000.97 Digital Engineering practices.

Expertise in aerospace power system architecture, including power generation, conversion, and distribution.

Control theory application and closed-loop system development experience.
