POSITION SUMMARY
Community Sustainability Partners is a non-profit organization dedicated to driving energy and solar investments into community development work. One primary activity CSP leads is the deployment of solar projects on affordable housing properties across the country. The Organization has a pipeline of over 30 Megawatts of solar projects under development, in partnership with many of the largest affordable housing developers and owners in the country. This position is an opportunity to join a team dedicated to building solar to address climate and equity issues and focused on deploying solar to low-income communities across the country.
Community Sustainability Partners seeks a full-time Project Manager to lead development of solar projects on top of affordable housing properties across the country. The Project Manager will lead the scoping of projects in partnership with solar installers, model financial returns, structure financing, oversee the installation contractor, and transition projects into operations. We understand that development work requires a diverse set of skills. As such, we will consider candidates from diverse backgrounds. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
CSP is seeking a dynamic, problem solving, self-motivated Project Manager to drive progress throughout the lifecycle of a solar project. The Project Manager will act as lead solar development manager, managing CSP’s solar development pipeline, managing relationships with clients, guiding internal analysts, ensuring on-time completion of high-quality deliverables, and serving as the primary point of contact on several solar development portfolios. The Project Manager must demonstrate expertise in solar or affordable housing development. The Solar Developer will report to the Executive Director of CSP, who will provide technical expertise, strategic guidance and thought leadership on each project.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project Manager job responsibilities are as follows:
Project Management:
Manage CSP’s solar development pipeline
Oversee the entire project lifecycle, from site identification through construction completion and operations, including securing funding sources.
Work with Solar Installers and Designers to scope out projects
Prepare financial models, timelines, agendas, task lists, and scopes of work
Lead internal and external meetings
Develop request for proposals for vendors, evaluate vendors, and recommend vendors
Manage a team of vendors
Communicate project updates and milestones to principals and clients
Anticipate issues, trouble-shoot, and propose solutions
Review and interpret technical reports and information to ensure engineers, contractors, and consultants are performing work as expected
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution.
Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies
Developing proposals, reports and presentations in collaboration with the Team
Financial Analysis and Modeling:
Develop detailed financial models to assess the economic viability of solar projects, including revenue projections, cost estimates, and return on investment (ROI) analysis
Build and manage budgets to track expenses for solar and storage projects
Run, review, and refine Helioscope designs
Identify and secure financing sources, including loans, tax equity, and grants
Prepare and present financial proposals to investors and lenders
The position has minimal travel expectations, traveling around five to six times per year for team and client meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor's degree in finance, real estate development, business, sustainability, or a related field, master's degree strongly preferred
5-10 years of work experience in solar project development, finance, sustainability, affordable housing, renewable energy, real estate development, or related field
Technical Solar Experience: At minimum an intermediate understanding of solar energy technology, design, and interconnection, including experience with solar modeling software
Ability to create and edit proformas, including building out sources and uses for a project
Demonstrated familiarity with the federal solar incentive landscape, including the Solar Investment Tax Credit and Bonuses
Strong project management and organizational skills
Demonstrated industry knowledge
Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
Demonstrated experience managing staff

The salary range for this full-time position is $110,000-$130,000 base + bonus structure + benefits. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
