About SiLC:
SiLC Technologies is redefining perception with its breakthrough 4D sensing platform, combining photonics, electronics, and embedded intelligence into compact, high-performance modules. Our multidisciplinary teams are building the future of machine vision by developing integrated solutions that include custom ASICs, advanced optoelectronics, complex cooling solutions, and precision mechanical design. We are looking for a Thermal Engineer to lead this cross-functional effort.
Position Summary:
As a Thermal Engineer at SiLC, you will drive end-to-end thermal management for our integrated coherent FMCW LiDAR products, from initial concept through production. You will architect and optimize passive and active cooling solutions spanning TIMs, thermoelectric cooler (TEC) modules, and liquid-cooling loops using advanced simulation tools (COMSOL, SolidWorks). Working closely with photonics, electronics, and manufacturing teams, you will validate designs through hands-on prototyping and testing, integrate thermal strategies into CAD workflows, and support DFMEA and design-transfer for high-volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
· Thermo-Mechanical design of optoelectronic packaging and enclosures.
· Produce detailed drawings and effective communication with vendors for manufacturing.
· Lead thermal failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) to identify potential hotspots, validate mitigation approaches, and document risk reduction plans
· Assess and qualify external suppliers of TEC modules, TIMs, heat spreaders, sensors, and pumps, conducting vendor audits, performance benchmarking, and cost benefit analyses.
· Design and specify robust enclosure and sealing solutions to achieve IP65-rated ingress protection, defining gasket and O-ring materials, surface treatments, and test protocols, and implement comprehensive EMI shielding via conductive coatings, grounding/bonding schemes, and filter integration.
· Conduct comprehensive thermal and mechanical tests to validate the designs.
· Produce and maintain detailed thermal requirement specifications, test plans, and design review packages; present findings to cross functional and executive stakeholders.
· Support any other activities related to the Mechanical Engineering Department.
· Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and personnel.
· Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization.
Qualifications:
· B.Sc. in mechanical engineering or related technical field with minimum of 3 years of experience in Thermo-Mechanical Engineering.
· Proficient with Thermal, flow and structural design and simulations (e.g., COMSOL, SolidWorks Simulation).
· Proficient in SolidWorks, produce drawings and GD&T.
· Knowledgeable in TIMs and material selection for thermal optimization.
· Experience with thermal testing, sensor selections and data processing.
· Proven experience in designing and validating IP65-rated enclosures and electromagnetic shielding.
· Familiarity with safety and compliance standards (UL, IEC) related to thermal and electrical equipment, plus experience supporting product certification efforts.
· Experience with statistical analysis, regression modeling, and Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies for interpreting thermal test data and optimizing design parameters
Compensation and Benefits:
Base salary: $80,000 to $90,000, depending on experience and qualifications
Significant equity compensation tied to company milestones
Comprehensive benefits including medical plan and other perks
