This is a remote position but does require occasional on-site meetings in Austin, Texas

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a Microsoft Power Automate-based project tracking system to manage RaaS projects from intake through permission to operate.

Integrate the new tracking system with Austin Energy’s existing platforms such as Meter Data Management Systems (MDMS), Generation Management Systems (GMS), and ERCOT metering/reporting tools.

Coordinate and communicate system integration requirements across internal Austin Energy departments (Metering, IT, and Generation Operations).

Ensure compliance with SB 398 legislative requirements and ERCOT communication protocols for DERs.

Support real-time reporting and monthly settlement processes for distributed energy resources via system-to-system integration with ERCOT.

Collaborate with external vendors and internal teams for seamless integration and quality assurance.

Perform on-site testing of communication equipment to ensure data integrity and grid communication reliability.

Monitor and refine automated workflow notifications to ensure timely updates to relevant business units.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Design, build, and test Power Automate workflows and process automation logic.

Lead and participate in technical discussions with cross-functional internal teams and external stakeholders.

Troubleshoot and resolve integration and communication issues between AE systems and distributed energy platforms.

Create and maintain technical documentation for process flows and integration architecture.

Provide stakeholders with regular updates on RaaS project tracking and operational milestones.

Conduct validation and testing of systems, including on-site inspections of metering or communication equipment.

Support real-time data exchange via ICCP and other protocols between AE and ERCOT.

Preferred Experience and Attributes

4–7 years of experience in information systems, system integration, or related IT project delivery roles.

Proven experience working on system integration projects in utility or energy-related environments.

Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Power Automate for developing end-to-end process automation workflows.

Proficiency with Microsoft Visio for designing process diagrams and visual documentation.

Working knowledge of ERCOT protocols related to DER metering, telemetry, and registration.

Familiarity with DER interconnection procedures and distributed generation resource management.

Experience integrating with or supporting MDMS and GMS platforms.

Understanding of Inter-Control Center Communications Protocol (ICCP) and related network communication standards.

Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across IT, operations, and external vendors.

Self-motivated and able to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving project environment.

Experience conducting system-level QA and validating end-to-end integration.

Capable of producing technical documentation and training materials for system users.
