Job Details
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Accountant to join our dynamic team in the Engineering industry. This role is integral to our company's financial operations, playing a key role in providing accurate and timely cost information to assist management in decision-making. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and monitoring material costs, labor rates, work in progress (WIP), inventory, balance sheets, and month-end closing activities.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization.
2. Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings by collecting and providing information on production costs, including material costs, labor rates, and overhead.
3. Prepare and complete internal cost audits.
4. Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements.
5. Analyze the data collected and record the results.
6. Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
7. Analyze audits of costs and prepare reports.
8. Make estimates of new and proposed product costs.
9. Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services.
10. Assist in audits and general ledger preparation.
11. Conduct physical inventories and monitor the cycle count program.
12. Manage month-end close of the general ledger.
13. Conduct regular ledger reconciliation.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
3. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification preferred.
4. Excellent analysis skills, with the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
5. Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
6. Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
7. Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
8. High attention to detail and accuracy.
9. Ability to direct and supervise.
10. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
11. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
12. Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation.
