Position Overview
The College Preparatory School seeks an experienced Network and Systems Administrator to join its technology team. The ideal candidate will maintain and optimize the school's IT infrastructure while supporting its educational mission through reliable technology services. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.
The technology team currently comprises four positions: the department director, who in turn manages three other positions: the network and systems administrator, the educational technology and design lead, and the technology support specialist. This is a new, full-time, exempt position that starts this summer-ideally in late June / early July.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
3+ years of experience in network and systems administration, preferably in an educational environment
Experience administering, maintaining, and supporting enterprise data systems
Understanding of VOIP systems and telecommunications infrastructure
Experience in imaging, deploying and managing end-user hardware via an MDM
Experience managing on-prem server technology and administering cloud-based server platforms
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a school environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the Cisco IOS platform
One or more industry certifications (Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+, Microsoft certifications)
Experience in an educational institution environment and knowledge of common educational tools and applications, including Google for Education
Experience with cybersecurity practices and protocols
Project management experience
Working Hours and Conditions
Full-time, year-round position
Some evening and weekend work may be required for system maintenance and updates
On-site daily, with some opportunity/need for occasional remote work
Salary Range: $115,000-$135,000/year

Key Responsibilities
Network / Server / Telephony
Manage and maintain the school's network infrastructure, including Cisco networking equipment, routers, switches, access points, and firewalls, to ensure a reliable, secure, and optimized delivery of network connectivity
Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot various on-prem and cloud server technologies
Support and maintain the school's VOIP telephone system
Systems / Data
Administer cloud-based and on-prem database systems-including the SIS, LMS and other application-specific systems-to ensure data integrity and security
Manage the school-wide email system and groupware solutions
Implement and maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions
General
Provide Tier-2/Tier-3 technical support and training to staff and faculty
Plan and implement technology upgrades during school breaks
Deploy and support end-user technology hardware and software schoolwide and to specific departments, both academic and operational
Serve as a collaborative and collegial technology department team member, and perform other duties as assigned
