Outpatient Surgical Coder

Position Summary:

Harvard Resource Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and certified Outpatient Surgical Coder to accurately review, analyze, and assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes using established coding guidelines. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant coding for outpatient records to support proper billing and reimbursement processes.

Workflow for coding outpatient records

Assist in coding and abstracting all inpatient and outpatient

Cod all outpatient, ambulatory surgery

Correct registration for inpatients and outpatient records

Manage outpatient DNFB in order to assure completion of uncoded/unbilled outpatient accounts

Coding advice as needed by outpatient and inpatient providers

Serve as a resource to outpatient coding staff and other departments across the facility

Work as a team to meet departmental goals and AR goals

Demonstrate appropriate utilization of coding software and coding reference material

Perform coding for multiple hospitals

Perform coding validation for providers

Stay abreast of all changes in coding conventions and coding updates

Maintain coding accuracy rate of 95%

Provide support through performance of Medical Record Coding

Provide coding expertise within assigned outpatient setting in all aspects of the outpatient clinical coding function that support the organization in Data Quality improvement iniatives

Provide outpatient medical record coding support

Coordinate coding and abstracting audits

Conduct medical record coding review

Derived from medical record documentation (paper or electronic) for outpatient encounters

Perform the functions of coding of ED and outpatient surgery records, collection of predefined indicators and abstracting medical records
