Job Summary:
Tenaska Marketing Ventures (TMV) is seeking a driven and highly motivated Natural Gas Trader to join our team in Omaha, NE. The final title will reflect the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is primarily responsible for the management of transportation and storage assets controlled by TMV and the buying and selling of natural gas to extract arbitrage value from these assets for the benefit of the customers and TMV. This position requires collaboration within a team environment to generate and share information with Traders across other regions.
Location: Onsite in Omaha, NE.
Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for buying and selling natural gas across various pipelines to generate arbitrate profits for the customers and TMV
Responsible for managing and arbitraging TMV’s controlled asset positions including storage, transportation, Asset Management Agreements, Energy Management Agreements, and toggle supply/market
Works closely with Originators to help build and maintain a TMV business
Determines risk and optionality value (rewards) of controlling certain assets and uses physical commodity, transportation and storage assets, and financial tools (such as futures, swaps, and options) to optimize these assets
Prepares necessary documentation for all deals and verifies accuracy within GMS prior to dissemination to all parties
Tracks relevant pipeline websites daily for operating conditions and communicates this information as appropriate
Creates “specialized and customized solutions” for customers such as natural gas producers, natural gas and electric utilities, pipelines, power generators, and large industrial end users
Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Engineering required
Gas or power industry experience (3-5 years) required
Structured products experience
Reliable, predictable and dependable attendance is required
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s degree in Business, Finance, etc.
Gas scheduling experience
Previous trading experience
Ability to understand pipeline tariff structures
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to listen and fulfill the needs of the customer
Ability to work as a member of a team
Track record of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to meet deadlines
High personal standards for performance and integrity
Some activity after normal work hours and weekends required
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office Outlook
Travel: 5-20%
