We’re looking for a Design Manager to support our growing portfolio of high-performance data center projects. In this role, you will work closely with the Vice President of Design and internal stakeholders to ensure that all design efforts align with the standards and structure of the Overwatch Datacenters Design Program.
You’ll be responsible for managing the lifecycle of design—from due diligence through project handover—and coordinating across teams to drive design execution, resolve roadblocks, and support design program governance across multiple sites.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign Program Management
Serve as the single point of contact for the Datacenters Design Program across all assigned projects.
Support due diligence efforts through to operational handover, ensuring design consistency and compliance.
Lead onboarding and training of internal stakeholders and external AVE partners on design standards.
Manage document control and track change management across the Design Program.
Drive continuous improvement efforts within the design framework.Design Coordination & Support
Coordinate design timelines, page-turns, and design review sessions across multiple concurrent projects.
Facilitate collaboration between internal teams, consultants, and general contractors.
Track project progress, ensuring alignment to schedule, scope, cost, and quality benchmarks.
Identify and resolve design-related issues during construction by working with cross-functional partners.
Lead cross-functional design meetings and status updates, maintaining clear communication channels.
Build and maintain tools, dashboards, and simple workflows that drive transparency and efficiency.
Develop and monitor KPIs to measure design team performance and highlight areas for improvement.Qualifications & Requirements
Proven experience managing the design phase of complex, large-scale projects—data centers, hospitals, airports, or similar technical facilities preferred.
Ability to act as an owner’s representative, coordinating between design consultants, internal stakeholders, and construction teams.
Demonstrated ability to oversee concurrent design scopes while resolving issues during active construction.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to run meetings, track action items, and maintain documentation.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; capable of managing multiple stakeholders.
Collaborative, team-first mindset with an ability to simplify processes and build alignment.Technical Skills
Comfortable using Bluebeam, Smartsheet, and general productivity tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Familiarity with large building systems (electrical, mechanical, structural) in critical environments.
No direct design or drafting required, but familiarity with reading and interpreting technical documents is essential.What We Offer
