Position Summary:

MarshBerry is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our Beachwood, OH office. The Senior Accountant assists the Accounting Manager and the Chief Financial Officer by overseeing and processing accounting transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance of processes and procedures. The Senior Accountant will focus on process improvement initiatives to assist the company to accomplish the strategic short and long-term goals.

Responsibilities:

Oversees the compilation of transactions required to produce accurate and timely financial statements. This includes but is not limited to account analysis, various journal entries and account reconciliations.

Leads month end close, ensuring both the accuracy and timeliness of all necessary transactions.

Analyzes monthly general ledger account activity, journal entries, accruals, and variances to forecast.

Supervises accounts payable process and accounts receivable billing process.

Assists company in executing company policies and compliance procedures.

Serves as project lead and power user for the accounting software system. Works with, provider, IT and business units to create and continuously improve accounting processes and system reporting capabilities.

Assists with training, coaching and development of other accounting team members.

Prepares monthly financial reports for Chief Financial Officer, team reports and bonus calculations, including Profit and Loss and Travel reports.

Works directly with external auditors, for all entities, on the year-end audits and tax returns. Must take a proactive approach and prepare accurate supporting documentation to ensure a successful and timely completion.

Processes state filing requirements and maintains all state files for notices and acknowledgements.

Assist with various aspects of payroll and bonus tracking by preparing the monthly payroll and benefits allocation and also maintaining the annual detailed bonus file.

Cultivates and maintains effective relationships with potential internal/external clients, partners and stakeholders that can directly or indirectly lead to revenue generation for all MarshBerry services.

Provides back up coverage to accounting team members.

Special projects as assigned.

Selection Criteria

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees are a plus.

CPA is a plus.

3-5 plus years of general accounting experience, either in a public accounting firm or in a private corporate environment.

Experience with mergers and acquisitions and international accounting experience is a plus.

Proficient with Microsoft Office, and other software as it applies. Experience with Microsoft Great Plains is a plus.

Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
