Job Summary:
The Mechanical / Structural Engineer will design, develop, analyze, and test all aspects of Power Package units to meet our customers’ requirements. Power Package units are predominantly steel structures that enclose generators and electrical power equipment, protect that equipment from the environment, control emissions from that equipment, cool that equipment, and comply with building codes. The Mechanical / Structural Engineer will create models, drawings, and instructions that analyze and document how the Power Package units and related systems perform and are produced, integrated, shipped, operated, and maintained. This position will be located at the JTS Caldwell or Nampa facility. Travel between JTS facilities or other travel may be required. This position could be assigned to first or second shift.
Who You Are:
You have a strong foundation in mechanical and structural engineering principles, particularly in steel structure design and analysis.
You are experienced in using CAD and FEA tools to create, test, and validate detailed models and drawings.
You enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams to take projects from concept through production, shipping, and installation.
You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
You take ownership of your designs and are committed to delivering robust, manufacturable solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and interpret product designs and models that meet customer requirements
Collaborate with designers, other engineers, and project managers to ensure designs meet all technical requirements, can be made efficiently, and are cost-effective
Create and interpret drawing packages for manufacturing
Create layouts and drawing views to depict functional and physical relationships of parts and systems in and around Power Package units
Prepare bills of materials to detail parts and materials needed to cost and build each unit
Create specifications for materials, parts, and systems
Research technologies and products to improve the performance of JTS products
Analyze and optimize the designs of large structures including conducting finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
Ensure designs meet all relevant quality and safety standards, codes, and regulationsand are compliant with industry-specific requirements
Analyze potential problems that could arise during the manufacturing process and recommend any solutions to solve these issues
Use customer feedback and data to find any areas of improvement or identify areas of repair for existing machines
Troubleshoot and resolve engineering issues
Work with other engineers and third-party engineering firms to conduct analyses and certify designs
Work with other departments to ensure products meet safety and quality standards.
Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering or equivalent (Compensation and level of position depend upon qualifications and experience)
Strong understanding of engineering principles and best practices
Proven experience designing industry-specific products
Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards
Knowledge of and adherence to jobsite safety
Ability to work independently and in a team
Reliable attendance, be respectful and responsible at work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
Experience in Solidworks, PDM, AutoCAD, Revit, ProNest, SigmaNEST, Sim-Scale, structural / load analysis (FEA), fluid dynamics analysis (CFD), Microsoft Office, and ability to adapt to other tools.
Experience in sheet metal, structural steel, and systems and part integration design and manufacturing
