Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Polysomnographic Technician to join our Sleep Center team. Under the general supervision of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or Clinical Director, the Technician will perform comprehensive sleep testing, analysis, and associated interventions to support accurate diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
Responsibilities:
Review patient history, medications, and procedure requests.
Prepare and calibrate equipment for testing, ensuring proper functioning.
Explain procedures and orient patients to the sleep study process.
Apply electrodes/sensors per accepted standards and perform calibrations.
Monitor and acquire polysomnographic data, identifying signal abnormalities.
Document sleep stages, clinical events, and significant changes during testing.
Conduct PAP mask fittings and titration procedures.
Assist with data scoring and report generation.
Maintain accurate records and comply with all safety and infection control protocols.
Provide age-appropriate care for all patient populations.
Respond to patient inquiries and ensure patient comfort throughout the procedure.
Participate in staff meetings, corporate training, and continuing education.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Requirements:
Current CPR or BCLS certification
CEUs as mandated by the AASM
Inter-scorer reliability and required hospital education
Must obtain RPSGT or RST certification within 24 months of hire
Experience:
Completion of a 90-day training period
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Attention to detail and sound judgment
Ability to follow directions and maintain accurate records
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and manual dexterity
Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs
Visual acuity including close, distance, color, and depth perception
