Position: Buyer
Position: Owings Mills, MD
Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm; Monday - Friday
Pay: $33.00/hour
3-6 month contract to possible hire.
Job Resposibilities of the Buyer:
Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate prices, terms, and delivery schedules, ensuring the best value for the company.
Replenishing Kanban supplies of tools, replacement parts, and other items
Confirming and monitoring delivery dates and expediting material as necessary
Ensuring vendor invoicing discrepancies are corrected at the root cause
Communicates with vendors based on need
Measures and communicates vendor performance both internally and externally with guidance from the Materials Manager
Communicates regularly with Customer Service and Sales to assess sales pipeline and how it affects supply requirements
Monitors and communicates market prices for raw materials to the Materials Manager
Participates in inventory, cycle counts on a regular basis and ensures the accuracy of inventory
Works with manufacturing/quality engineering, operations, and design engineering to evaluate defects and scrap for disposition, credit, and preventative root cause analysis and corrective action
Utilize systems such as SAP and Oracle EBS to manage purchasing activities, track inventory levels, and analyze procurement data.
Monitor market trends to identify potential opportunities for cost savings and improved supplier performance.
Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of products and materials while maintaining accurate inventory control.
Reports directly to the Materials Manager.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors to foster collaboration and resolve any issues related to supply chain disruptions or product quality.
Prepare reports on purchasing activities, supplier performance, and inventory status for management review.
Requirements and Qualifications:
High School Diploma
3+ Years or more of purchasing or related experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with ERP System
Customer focused and process oriented, builds relationships to achieve positive results
Proficient in detailed data entry in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
Ability to identify, analyze and resolve problems by using critical thinking to determine root cause and determine corrective action
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate, in a positive manner, with all levels of colleagues and vendors
Ability to effectively prioritize daily and weekly activities and discern the need to adjust priorities
Ability to consistently perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailCompany Description
