Provide technical support to manufacturing locations through process related problem solving, process improvements and cost reduction programs, and the development and implementation of improved formulations, methods, equipment and associated technology, new product launches and new plant startups. Support, coordinate and assist in sampling activities. Prepare and analyze technical reports.
Job Responsibilities
Develop formulations to meet production specifications
Responsible for process requirements in new products, tooling and equipment including sample runs, ensuring production readiness for new launches.
Responsible for the daily process operations
Participate in production troubleshooting as needed
Liaison with maintenance to solve process equipment problems
Liaison with production to address production concerns
Focus on implementation of continuous improvement, scrap reduction and variation reduction programs
Optimize raw material usage and minimize waste
Participate in health & safety and quality audit process
Write and update SOPS, SOTS, procedures, etc. Additional Information
Please note that this position is located at the Woodbridge Chattanooga Formed Plastics facility located at 51 Lost Mound Drive, Unit 115, Chattanooga, TN 37406.
This position is on Afternoon Shift or Night Shift:
Standard shift hours for Afternoon Shift are 2:45pm - 11:15pm
Standard shift hours for Night Shift are 10:45pm to 7:15am - week starts Sunday night.
Schedule hours may be altered as required. Ability to work overtime or irregular hours to include Saturdays, Sundays and holidays as requested, is required.
Production, management and customer needs may also necessitate a reduced (less than 40 hour) work week.
This position is a salaried non-exempt position and as such, entitled to overtime pay. Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
One to two years' experience in an engineering role
Strong mechanical aptitude
Good verbal and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of SPC and automotive quality standards, statistical experiments, ladder logic, metering pumps, drives, sensors and transducers, control theory, hydraulics, pneumatic are assets.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen is a plus
Required to work various shifts
Computer skills, such as AutoCAD, Windows, spreadsheets, databases and word processing software
