What you Will be Doing:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting scopes of work activities associated with components, assemblies, and machines in the Centrifuge Project. Provides support to the Centrifuge Program to accomplish goals and objectives while ensuring compliance to Centrus standards and practices.

Key Deliverables:

Assist in designing, building, and troubleshooting the following

High vacuum systems

Helium leak detection equipment

Composite parts and assemblies

Machined parts and assemblies

Assist in design and analysis of structural and dynamic systems

Design manufacturing equipment as needed for manufacturing activities

Develop specifications for fabrication materials and equipment

Assist in the creation, review, and approval of engineering packages to be used for fabrication

Establish procedures for assembly and repair of fabricated components

Drive process improvement activities for internal activities and external suppliers

Manage multiple priorities and ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget

Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements

Contribute to cross functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, testing, quality and purchasing We'd Love to Hear from People Who Have:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

5+ years of experience in a professional environment

a Masters may be used to substitute for 2 years' experience Our Ideal Candidate Brings:

Experience with lean manufacturing

Project Management experience

Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

5+ years CAD experience (CREO experience a plus)

Experience using FEA (Ansys experience is a plus)

Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q-level security clearance

Centrifuge design, test, and/or manufacturing experience is a plus

Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems A Successful Candidate Brings:

Ability to develop a project from concept to production detail design

Creative and analytical thinking

Solid understanding of mechanical engineering

Excellent communication skills

Excellent problem-solving ability

Attention to detail

This position will require preemployment background check on the part of the Company and in order to receive a DOE security clearance, a background investigation by the Federal government. Subsequent Federal government reinvestigations may be required.
