Renew Youth Career Developer
Description
A Youth Specialist is needed to work with young adults ages 18 to 26 who are being discharged from their first psychiatric inpatient hospitalization or who are struggling with mental health challenges and homelessness. The primary responsibility is to guide these individuals in addressing their mental health needs while assisting them in pursuing vocational goals, building independence, and achieving key milestones associated with adulthood. This role is focused on providing wholistic support to youth, fostering self-sufficiency, and connecting them to the appropriate services for career development, housing, and personal growth.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of vocational, independent living, and mental health needs for each participant.
Develop individualized service plans and goals to address mental health challenges, vocational aspirations, and independent living skills.
Provide direct support in the development of career readiness, including educational services, job training, and vocational coaching.
Coordinate services with other providers, including mental health professionals, housing services, and educational institutions.
Develop and facilitate activities that promote personal growth, independence, and self-sufficiency, such as life skills training, financial literacy, and decision-making.
Link participants to housing services and advocate for access to stable housing options.
Track and report participant progress, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to program expectations and productivity.
Collaborate with community organizations, housing agencies, mental health professionals, and employers to ensure integrated support for participants. Salary range = $35,000 - $42,660.
Position Requirements
BA/AA degree required.
Experience with SPMI and/or SUD population preferred.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
Knowledge of community resources and healthcare services.
Valid driver's license and insurance.
