Overview:
A leading specialty chemical manufacturer located in the Pearland area is actively seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer to lead capital project controls for an extensive portfolio. This is a hands-on role requiring strong skills in estimating, planning, scheduling, and project execution.
The selected candidate will be an integral part of a dedicated team, working closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and contract labor, while overseeing a wide variety of capital projects.
This is a high-impact opportunity with potential for career advancement into the Director of Capital Projects role upon conversion to a permanent position.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all aspects of project controls across a $117M annual capital budget.
Oversee planning, estimating, scheduling, cost tracking, and forecasting for approximately 80 active projects ranging from small (< $1M), medium ($1M-$5M), to large (up to $21M).
Interface daily with project stakeholders including internal engineers, project managers, and field personnel.
Utilize Primavera P6 for all project scheduling and reporting activities.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of project performance and metrics.
Ensure project milestones, deliverables, and budgets are met or exceeded.
Support and guide the project controls team in a collaborative, onsite environment. Qualifications:
20+ years of experience in project controls within industrial or chemical plant environments.
Proven success in cost estimating, planning, scheduling, and capital project execution.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 is required.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with or managing contractor/vendor teams (e.g., Austin Industrial).
Must have a demonstrated track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Comfortable with a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground role, working onsite daily. Why Join:
