The Assistant Principal reports to the School Principal.
The primary responsibilities of the job are to assist the principal in the areas of student, staff, and community and school leadership.
Unless otherwise directed by the Superintendent or the Principal, he/she assumes leadership of the school in the absence of the Principal.
The Ditson Elementary School serves approximately 536, K-4 students in Billerica . The school promotes an atmosphere based around "community" where all stakeholders are expected to be optimistic, inclusive, empathetic, and supportive of others.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Assist the principal in the general administration of the school, and serves as principal when the principal is not present.
2.
Maintain high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according to due process to the rights of students.
3.
May act as liaison between the school, parents, and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
4.
Responsible for the implementation and observation of all School Committee policies and regulations by the school staff and students.
5.
Assist in the development, revisions, and evaluations of the curriculum along with district's coordinators as well as oversee the school assessment plan, including all formative, summative and standardized assessments.
6.
Assist with the supervision and evaluation of all professional, paraprofessional, and support personnel in the school.
7 .Assist in providing leadership of professional development for staff.
8.
Conduct meetings of staff, including in-service and mandatory trainings, as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
9.
Work in concert with the Special Education Director on the successful implementation and maintenance of special education programs and services within the building as well as Response to Intervention.
10.
Facilitates the RTI process which includes the supervision of interventionists, the creation of rank-ordered lists and the evaluation of program effectiveness.
11.
Coordinate and oversee 504 Program.
12.
Work with Supervisors, Directors, Coordinators, and faculty groups in compiling the annual budget requests.
13.
Assist in the implementation of the school's operating budget and capital improvement plan.
14.
Assist with the safety and administration of the school facilities including any safety-related drills and procedures.
15.
Discharge such other permanent and temporary duties as the Principal and/or Superintendent may assign.
16.
Support the Therapeutic Learning Center Program.
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, with advanced graduate work in the area of educational administration preferred - Valid Massachusetts License as a Principal/Assistant Principal, Grades PreK-6 - Teaching and/or administrative experience in an elementary setting totaling a minimum of six years - Strong computer skills with the ability to utilize technology in all facets of the position SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As per negotiated agreement between Billerica School Committee and Billerica Administrative Group - 210 days per year The Billerica Public School System is an equal opportunity employer in compliance with Title IX, Chapter 622 and Section 504
