Title:Terra Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) Subsystem Systems Engineer

The Terra Flight Operations Team is looking for a Guidance, Navigation, and Control Subsystem Systems Engineer to join their team. This position would directly report to the Terra Flight Systems Manager (FSM).
Responsibilities:
Directly report to the Terra Flight Systems Manager (FSM)
Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the GNC subsystem and TONS (and all the components that comprise these systems) for the Terra spacecraft in order to maintain its health and safety.
Monitor all GNC related anomalies (Attitude Control Electronics safehold sensor select, Master Oscillator shifts/clock errors, Inertial Reference Unit / Gyro, Three-Axis Magnetometer field output, etc) for triggers that could increase mission risk or cause permanent subsystem degradation and respond appropriately in a timely manner to ensure operations continue successfully.
Plan, schedule, simulate, execute, analyze Terra maneuvers (Debris Avoidance, MODIS Roll, Perigee Lowering) and distribute reports.
Ensure Terra GNC/TONS configurations and constraints (such as Solar Drag Model, TDRS map and MO frequency tables) are maintained as needed.
Monitor and manage the navigation systems performance (including TONS).
Understand Terra Fault Managment and how to respond to all GNC/TONS related spacecraft anomalies
Support Command Authorization Meetings, and other meetings and conferences as needed.
Interface with both Internal and External Customers (NASA, Conjunction Assessment (CARA), Flight Dynamics (FDS), and Flight Software Maintenance (FSSE) groups) and spacecraft manufacturer
Generate, update and maintain documentation associated with the GNC/TONS subsystems on Terra.
Assist online engineers to identify and correct GNC/TONS problems encountered in real-time and work with the rest of the Terra team to resolve issues.
Test and analyze ground system interfaces with the GNC/TONS subsystems.
Develop/Create process improvements, enhancements for the GNC subsystem and spacecraft in order to improve accuracy and efficiency
Create and update GNC/TONS procedures, pages, plots, etc.
Train new online engineers about the GNC/TONS subsystem.
Perform all daily trending and analysis of GNC/TONS subsystem.
Submit weekly, monthly, other reports to status the GNC/TONS subsystem as needed.
Prepare and execute all work required to passivate the Terra GN&C subsystem at end of mission
Required Education, Experience, & Skills:
BS degree in engineering or related discipline (Math, Physics, Computer Science)
At least 1 year of spacecraft operations experience
1-year of experience on EOS missions (Terra, Aqua, or Aura)
Preferred Experience & Skills:
Experience with Terra, ECLIPSE, ITPS, MMS, SSIM, MS Office, VBA, Matlab, Python
Basic Compensation:
$96,900.00$ - $145,400.00
This range is for the Greenbelt, Maryland area only
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation.
