About the role:
We are looking for an accounting student to join our corporate accounting team as an intern. The opportunity will provide a real-world experience at an international wood pellet company. Under the supervision of the accounting team, the accounting intern will participate in various activities to support the month-end close process, account reconciliations, supporting tax analysts with audit queries, and other accounting activities as required.
As part of the team, you will be responsible for
Assisting with the month-end close process, including the posting of specific manual journals
Assisting with the preparation of financial reporting for the Southern pellet operations
Preparation / review of key monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with other tasks as needed: tax compliance, audit support, forecasting, monthly and annual financial reporting
Ensure financial controls are well established and well understood
Support the Finance Manager with the co-ordination and execution of business-unit wide projects, relating to changes in accounting standards or changes in the way in which the business operates
Who we’re looking for:
To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have…
Must either be enrolled and in the process of completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
Proficient with computers and different finance software programs, including a strong knowledge of excel
Must have effective written and verbal communication skills to build string interpersonal relationships
Have strong organization and time management skills with the ability to work without distraction
Must have completed introductory accounting courses and have a basic understanding of financial principles
Be an excellent team player.
Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels both within and outside the organization.
Strong communication skills with an ability to adapt tone and style to a variety of audiences
