PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Design, plan, construct, install, and repair all phases of potable water, sanitary water, gas, and storm drainage systems in a way that will ensure the health and safety of the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Master plumber's license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Must be able to pass criminal history and MVR driving record check

Ability to maintain valid Texas driver's license

Ability to communicate in English

Knowledge of city and national plumbing codes

Ability to read and comprehend design drawings

Ability to operate all types of plumbing equipment

Ability to recognize and correct dangerous conditions related to gas-fired equipment

Ability to inspect, trouble-shoot, repair, and service physical plant components

Ability to use special tools and equipment

Ability to develop cost estimates, write reports, and keep records

Experience:

Five years experience as a plumber, preferred

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Repair or replace lavatories, toilets, urinals, and cafeteria plumbing fixtures.

2. Repair or replace drinking fountains.

3. Maintain and repair storm drainage systems.

4. Maintain and repair sanitary sewer and potable water systems.

5. Conduct annual gas test and maintain and repair gas systems.

6. Comply with rules and procedures of the maintenance and operations department and the district.

7. Inspection of materials and equipment.

8. Assist in the maintaining of established levels of parts, supplies and materials.

9. Assist in organizing and maintaining the shops, tools, equipment and vehicles.

10. Practice on-the-job- safety.

11. Report unusual conditions to the supervisor.

12. Maintain preventative maintenance schedules.

13. Provide on-the-job training for apprentice plumbers.

14. Coordinate efforts with other district personnel.

15. Oversee plumbers and assist in their training.

16. Accurate and consistent use of Time Clock Plus (TCP) and AESOP.

17. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals and fumes, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around gas lines; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; regularly work irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours; frequent districtwide travel
