TITLE: School Social Worker
QUALIFICATION: 1) Masters Degree
2) Demonstrated aptitude for successful completion of professional responsibiblites
LICENSE Appropriate Illinois State Board of Education License (PEL); with School Social Worker Endorsement
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITY:
Client Services
Provides direct and consultative social work services to students in group or individual.
Participates in all Child Find activities for identifying potential students for special education services
Maintains accurate records, and develops comprehensive, well-written reports in the form of Student Developmental Studies (SDS).
Administers diagnostic assessment and testing interviews with students and conducts student observations.
Collaborate with other staff members on the scheduling and facilitating of Individual Education Program (IEP) Schedules that are in compliance with state and federal statutes.
Participating in a professional learning community by engaging in professional development, and reflecting upon professional practice.
Identify the planned delivery of social work services to all students; services are comprehensive in scope, preventive in nature and developmental in design. This planned instruction is delivered to promote the social emotional learning of students, promotes the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of students based upon an understanding for social emotional developmental milestones.
Assists school principal in legal follow-up and home visits for truancy/absenteeism cases.
Possess knowledge and skill in applying functional assessments and analysis for applying an Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence understanding of student behavior.
Serves as a key member of the district crisis intervention team as requested by administration
Consults with teachers, parents, and administrators on proactive, positive behavioral supports intended to support student behavior within the school environment.
Program Administration
Coordinates special education services at building including scheduling, record keeping, filing and pre- referral checklist1.
Supports clear procedures for referrals using the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) and consulting with teachers/administrators/parents/guardians.
Contacts and coordinates involvement of outside agencies
Explains program content and secures consent signatures of parents on staff conference reports
Junior High School Social Worker
Supports clear procedures for referrals using the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) and consulting with teachers/administrators/parents/guardians.
Contacts and coordinates with outside agencies providing services for students requiring wrap around services.
Coordinates Argo High School on scheduling 8th grade to high school transition meetings.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accepts appropriate share of responsibility for total school operation
Uses a professional manner in dealing with students, parents, co-workers, and community stakeholders.
Performs such other professional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the principal and/or district administration inclusive of opening and closing duties at the school.
Attends faculty meetings, department meetings, workshops, institute days and open house as required.
