Information Systems Solutions (ISS) is looking for a qualified candidate to provide communication and network engineering support and design work for the Deputy Director J7, Joint and Coalition Warfighting (JCW) Engineering Division. This includes the coordination of site installation (and upgrades) for the Joint Training Experimentation Network (JTEN) – currently consisting of 50 sites. Provide engineering design and operational support for Communications and networking used in various Joint Exercises, Experiments and Mission Rehearsals.

This role is 100% onsite.

Job Duties:

Design, implement, and configure LAN, WLAN, and WAN networks.

Install, configure, and maintain network devices like routers, switches, firewalls, and servers.

Plan and implement improvements to network capacity and scalability.

Establish and enforce security policies, configure firewalls, and monitor network security.

Audit and assess network enclaves against customer service requirements and best practices.

Assist in formulating network management strategies.

Provide training and mentoring to junior network engineers.

Work with other IT teams and departments to support network needs.

Maintain comprehensive technical documentation of network infrastructure.

Provide recommendations to optimize network operation and performance.

Work with internal as well as customer project management and technical teams during design, development, and implementation phases of various network-related initiatives.

Required Skills

Ability to analyze network performance and identify areas for improvement.

Ability to effectively analyze and solve complex technical issues.

Professional level understanding and hands-on experience with TCP/IP as well IP routing protocols, especially OSPF, BGP, and PIM.

Professional level understanding of WAN technologies including mBGP, MPLS, and SD-WAN.

Professional level understanding and hands-on experience with GRE, IPSec and Type-1 cryptographic devices, such as L3/General Dynamics.

Professional level understanding and hands-on working knowledge of Cisco IOS and Juniper JUNOS

Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper routing and switching platforms.

Experience with configuring and troubleshooting in a multi-vendor environment.

Professional level understanding of common network security controls, especially firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.

Desired skills:

5 - 10 years relevant work experience with a telecommunications equipment vendor, service provider, or a data center.

This individual must be able to communicate with technical staff as well as upper management, senior government personnel and customers in a proper, professional manner.

Four-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
