This position is an assistant to the Manager/Director. Responsibilities of this position include fast and accurate operation of a PBX Console during routine and heavy traffic. Work is performed under close supervision according to standard instruction. Performance is based on effectiveness and accuracy of work.
JOB SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Operates a telephone console in disposing of incoming, outgoing and intercampus calls.
• Provides procedural instructions on the use of special telephone features.
• Establishes, monitors, and logs conference calls.
• Gives routine non-technical information upon request and transfers all other questions to proper persons or departments.
• Identifies and reports unusual or recurrent calls to the supervisor.
• Provides message and paging services for physicians, administrators, and other employees as directed.
• Routes emergency or problem calls to proper authorities.
• Calmly and effectively calls or pages for emergency codes.
• Performs related work as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent is required. A minimum of one year of experience in working with telecom and related technologies is preferred. Basic computer hardware and software knowledge is also required. Proficiency in written and mathematical process as may be reflected in the completion of high school. Two years of work, preferably experience as a receptionist or switchboard operator.
PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES:
Occasionally lifts up to 20 pounds of weight and exerts up to 20 pounds of force to push, pull or move objects. Work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Performs repetitive and exacting work operating a large PBX Console and related tasks.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position is subject to inside environmental conditions; protection from weather conditions, not necessarily from temperature changes.
