Until Filled The School Social Worker for LASEC Wraparound Service will utilize the Life Space Crisis Intervention and Circle of Courage model of therapeutic intervention. S/he will utilize small group, individual and co-teaching strategies to assist families, students, school teams, and community resource providers in understanding a student's mental health needs and implementing plans to develop prosocial coping strategies for successful academic and emotional growth. S/he will be a partner in the development of student IEP, functional behavior assessment, and positive intervention plans with the school team, family, and community providers. S/he will respond to crisis intervention with staff to assist students in using de-escalation techniques founded in Life Space Crisis Intervention and Circle of Courage. S/he will create a tiered system of social emotional support to be used within the school and the community.
LASEC is a special education cooperative made up of 9 member districts. LASEC collaborates with its member districts to provide high-quality evidenced-based services, to achieve comprehensive cost-efficent positive outcomes for students. The School Social Worker for LASEC Wraparound Services will have a unique role in supporting students in both the micro and macro systems in the cooperative. The ideal candidate uses creative solutions, and thinks outside the traditional curricula and methods available in a school setting to meet the mental health needs of students.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
Utilize Life Space Crisis Intervention for all social emotional dysregulation.
Coaching and Co-teaching within academic pathway to grow students' use of Circle of Courage and Life Space Crisis Intervention in all aspects of their life.
Provide individual strategies for students to utilize that are specific to their social emotional/mental health need.
Outreach and collaboration with community agencies based on students social emotional/mental health needs.
Complete functional behavior analysis and behavior intervention plans for students.
Connect families to community-based mental health services and provide support to engage and maintain services.
Provide follow-up coordination with family and community providers.
Provide parent education and empowerment on how to support a child's significant mental health needs as it relates to school success.
Support and collaborate with families in the development and implementation of the stabilization plan.
Coordinate with the school team to support students and families.
Parent Education about mental illness and how to support the child.
Provide student education group.
Chair cooperative committee to identify mental health screening tool
Perform all other related work delegated tasks as requested to accomplish the objectives of the cooperative. Knowledge Skills and Ability Required:
Illinois PEL with endorsement for School Social Worker
Working toward LCSW or equivalent
Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of special education and specialty area (Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities).
Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective therapeutic interventions for students with disabilities.
Understands how to incorporate families into the invention for a student's emotional success.
Ability to deliver and articulate oral presentations and written reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public.
Bilingual skills preferred
Must have a valid Illinois Driver's license and automobile insured for school travel between school sites. Skills Required:

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. However, on occasion, the noise level will be moderate for a brief period of time.
Work is conducted indoors. This work is normally conducted at the LASEC office or partner school district. Evaluation:

SALARY & BENEFITS:
Starting salary range $58,000 to $62,600 (connected to Education and Years of experience)
