Position Summary:
Environmental health and safety (EHS) coordinators work to create a culture of safety within the organization. This role implements programs, policies, and assessments to ensure the company is compliance with all federal and internal health and safety rules. This role may also create and review reports and findings to monitor performance and detect trends related to health and safety. The EHS Coordinators will work in liaison with the plants in which they support. They will be a crucial team member to those plants. The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for two sites in Liberty, NC and Concord, NC.
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, required
Detailed knowledge of relevant regulations such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, State Regulations
Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (experience in a manufacturing setting a plus)
Travel: Must be able to travel between sites in Concord, NC and Liberty, NC multiple times per week

Contributes to the attainment of plant safety goals and driving toward world-class safety.
Ensure facilities are operating in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and requirements as codified in state and federal OSHA regulations or otherwise referenced (typically through a site audit, gap analysis, and closure process)
Champion initiatives that identify and communicate facility risk exposures, prioritize risk reduction needs, and drive closure of recommendations to reduce the identified risks
Consistently evaluating the site's EHS process and programs to continually improve to achieve world class performance.
Maintains plant safetybydirecting safety programs to protect employees against harm and maintain a safe working environment
Conducts job hazard analyses to ensure safe work environments according to EHS standards
Works with plant leadership, engineers and maintenance to institute controls for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions and equipment
Responsible to coordinate activities and communicate the internal safety compliance assessment score, maintain tracking of all EHS actions, and report monthly on progress to EHS Director.
Ensure the proper onsite management and offsite disposal of solid, universal, and hazardous wastes and lead a plant-wide effort to eliminate these by correcting the eliminating the root causes and/or reducing wastes, reusing, and recycling various materials
Facilitate / oversee incident investigations, root cause analyses, and closure of corrective actions
Work collaboratively with all levels to ensure the Americhem Safety Management System is being fully implemented and expectations are being met.
Coordinating with EHS Director and Plant Managers on compliance and reporting requirements of federal and state regulations, including OSHA and EPA compliance
Maintains written policies/procedures about employee safety, PPE assessment/ certifications, accident prevention and protection.
Active participant on the Safety Committee; conducting safety training and programs and demonstrates the use of safety equipment as necessary
Inspecting and evaluating workplace environments, equipment, and practices in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
Conduct risk and hazard analysis for critical positions
Conduct environmental reporting for the site(s) and monitor environmental performance Additional Position Responsibilities
