CAM/CAD Technician

Job Summary
Our client is expanding its operations to vertically integrate core printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. We are seeking a CAM/CAD Technician to support front-end imaging operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with LED imaging, CAD/CAM-based programming, optical measurement systems, and handling equipment. This role involves gathering design data, assisting with imaging setup, and processing through image automation.
Key Responsibilities
CAD/CAM Support & Daily Operations
• Work under the supervision of the CAD/CAM Engineering Lead to support daily operational needs.
• Learn and utilize CAD/CAM tooling processes, scripts, and tools to support vertical integration.
• Read design files in various formats such as .DXF and Gerber using software design tools.
• Coordinate internal files to create daily CAD/CAM packages for in-house operations.
Production & Imaging Support
• Develop proficiency in INCAM software to create plating images for MDI imagers, including:
• Layer scaling for etch compensation
• Fixture multi-up imaging
• Plating surface area calculations
• Tooling images for proper tenting
• Design rule violation checks and resolution
• Assist with routing and traveler creation for production:
• Generate travelers for daily production use
• Apply location-specific process requirements (e.g., electrolytic Cu thickness, plating recipe selection).
Equipment & Hardware Support
• Support hardware utilizing front-end tooling packages, including:
• MDI imaging system
• AOI system
• Inkjet solder mask printer
• LPKF stencil cutter
• Ensure daily production uptime by processing CAD/CAM files, troubleshooting, and maintaining associated equipment.
Quality Assurance & Documentation
• Create first article documentation, including:
• Critical line width and space measurements
• Process notes
• Assist CAD engineers in establishing change order/revision controls and documentation for front-end modifications.
• Monitor process yield and implement improvements by tracking and presenting throughput and performance metrics.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience & Technical Skills
• 2-4 years of CAD/CAM experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in:
• Circuit CAD layout
• Creation of solder mask files
• Imaging and optical inspection file generation
• Routing/traveler generation
• Interpreting and reading production drawings accurately
• Experience in qualifying new process equipment, including:
• Generating equipment specifications (process, maintenance, and safety documentation)
• Performing equipment qualification and buyoff
• Ensuring product conformance to applicable specifications
• Ability to debug hardware/software related to manufacturing processes.
• Experience in training and leading operators using established documentation.

• Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to travel to off-site locations as needed.

• Flexibility to work second shift or provide weekend support based on manufacturing demands.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $53,000 - $86,000 per year
