ESC of Eastern Ohio POSITION: Developmental Specialist -Long Term Substitute

DUTIES (include but not limited to the following):
Conducts developmental evaluations and assessments in the home or in a community setting to determine a child's Part C eligibility and plan service needs
Participates in the initial development and subsequent reviews of the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP); works cooperatively with team members to develop functional outcomes that focus intervention services on addressing the parents' priorities and child's needs and interests
Develops individualized, evidence-based strategies which promote planned interactions and active participation of caregivers, children, materials, and the specific environment that leads to achieving IFSP outcomes while using a coaching interaction style that provides families and caregivers with information, skills, and support related to enhancing a child's development
Functions as a Primary Service Provider (PSP) to deliver special instruction in the child's home or community setting in accordance with Chapter 5180-10 of the Ohio Administrative Code that promotes an infant's or toddler's acquisition of functional skills across developmental areas, including cognitive processes and social interaction through adaptation of the child's learning environment and activities
Participates as a member of the trans-disciplinary team and attends weekly team meetings and semi-annual IFSP meetings as requested by the EI Service Coordinator or required by program guidelines
Uses formal and informal methods to provide ongoing assessment and progress monitoring, completes quarterly updates, and maintains service documentation in compliance with DODD rules and regulations and MCBDD procedures
Works cooperatively with the EI Service Coordinator in transitioning children from Early Intervention to Early Childhood services
Follows the "Code of Ethics of the Division for Early Childhood of the Council for Exceptional Children" (available at ) to guide professional behavior
Attends and participates in conferences, staff meetings, and various in-service training opportunities
Participates in inter-agency meetings, public relation, local outreach, and child-find activities QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS (include but not limited to the following):
Eligible for Developmental Specialist certification issued by the Ohio Department of Children & Youth (DCY), as outlined in Ohio Administrative Code 5180-10-05
Knowledge of infant and toddler development and evaluation and assessment tools
Knowledge of evidenced-based intervention strategies, parent coaching interaction, and adult learning preferences
Evidence of a valid driver's license in state of residence, good driving record and full liability coverage on any vehicle used for transportation; continued maintenance of excellent driving record
Able to handle sensitive and confidential information
Able to establish and maintain positive rapport with child and family members
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Possess PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; proficiency in iPad use.
Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCII), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and abuser registry clearances.
Maintain all training requirements as per Board Policy

Ability to engage others with understanding and empathy. WAGE: $24.00/hour HOURS: 40 hrs/week, variable and flexible per program needs late visits may be necessary on occasion
