The Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting will be a key member of the Babcock & Wilcox Corporate Accounting team, responsible for leading the SEC reporting process including preparation of quarterly 10-Qs, the 10K and the annual report as well as the earnings release and proxy process along with assisting in ad-hoc filings, as needed. This role will also provide technical accounting support across the company to ensure compliance with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. The position will oversee a team of 2-3 people and report to the Corporate Controller.

Responsible for the planning and preparation of periodic SEC reporting documents including Forms 10-Q and 10-K and support the earnings release and proxy process and other ad-hoc filings throughout the year.

Manage the Financial Reporting teams preparation of financial statement disclosures, ensuring they are supported with appropriate documentation and compliant with SOX requirements.

Manage distribution of drafts to various internal and external parties, including accumulating and addressing comments received from external auditors, legal counsel and executive management.

Assist in preparation of quarterly earnings materials including executive scripts and investor presentations through collaboration with Investor Relations and Corporate Communications teams.

Manage the Financial Reporting team preparation and review of XBRL tagging, using an industry leading tool.

Work with external auditors and internal contacts to ensure the accuracy and timely completion of SOX documentation, risk matrices and test plans for related cycles.

Assist in researching accounting matters and disclosures, performing peer benchmarking analyses on disclosure trends and comment letters and assisting in other special projects, as required.

Complete, document and communicate ad hoc projects and analyses from internal customers (including Senior and Executive Management). Qualifications

8-10 years relevant experience in publicly traded company or large public accounting firm

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and education

Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Ability to partner and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret and apply technical accounting literature

CPA

Strong attention to detail & data accuracy, while understanding the "big picture"

Outstanding organization, process and time management skills, including ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Previous experience with Workiva

Previous experience with Oracle and Microsoft Office products

Previous experience with accounting for Defined-Benefit Plans

Previous experience with ASC 606 disclosures, especially revenue over time
