Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer to scope, design, develop, and support cost-effective automated manufacturing systems. These systems may include robotics, machine tending, material handling, RFID systems, automated assembly, and other automation systems to support manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will focus on factory automation and mechanical system design, and integration, with expertise in industrial robotics programming and integration.

Responsibilities:

Identify, develop, and recommend cost-effective automation systems to enhance efficiency, increase throughput, and drive cost savings in manufacturing operations.

Implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency, utilization, and output in existing and future manufacturing processes.

Oversee the specification, purchase, and installation of automation capital equipment, balancing technological capabilities and return on investment.

Interface with employees from other departments and external automation integrators for issue resolution and project implementation.

Lead the standardization of automated systems and equipment, including preparing standards/specifications and ensuring safety for hardware and software within the plant.

Lead manufacturing improvement activities involving automation components such as RFID systems, vision systems, and robotics, resulting in increased productivity and reduced process variation.

Provide support and continued development for existing automation projects already in service.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automation-related software and hardware issues.

Identify automation opportunities within existing production systems and minimize impact to ongoing production while implementing new automation processes.

Lead a technical team of automation engineers, providing daily management and fostering collaboration across departments.

Work effectively in a cross-functional, matrixed organization with other teams and sites. Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field with a focus on control engineering.

10 years of relevant experience, including projects in automation and control systems. Aerospace and lean manufacturing experience is a plus.

Ability to work under pressure and deliver results within deadlines.

Knowledge of mechanical systems, software, electronics, and electromechanical systems, as well as general automation technology.

Solid understanding of computer programming and software development related to control systems.

Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to perform complex system tests.

Effective collaboration with process owners and subject matter experts to ensure engagement and successful implementation of change management.

Excellent communication skills.

Flexibility and adaptability to manage change in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
