Laboratory Technician

Seasonal Lab Technician- Agriculture and Seed Health

Individual will work as a member of the Quality Control Seed Health testing team in Woodland, CA

Description

Performs laboratory technical tasks. Responsible for the care and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Will be required to offer assistance in the operation of the equipment and the gathering of data. Assists with receipt and inspection of raw materials ordering and stocking. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts practices and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision.

The individual must adhere to all safety regulations while working.

Normal daily activities may include the following: seed sample preparation, maintaining equipment and lab inventory; maintaining stocks of buffers, media and other reagents; word/excel data entry and LIMS database management; and running routine greenhouse or laboratory tests.

Contractors maybe asked to complete independent projects along side routine work.

This individual will work as a member of the Sample Management team.

The primary job function revolves around the processing of seed samples including counting/prepping seed, dishwashing, and making buffer and media.

They will also be actively working in a group to maintain lab supplies, safety standards, documents and will also help in other seed health groups with routine testing.

Qualifications

BS in Agriculture, Plant Science, Biology or Relevant field

Attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, and effective time management is critical.

A successful candidate is organized, dependable, demonstrates good time management, has strong attention to detail, and is a supportive team member.

MUST be okay with kitchen like environment with sample prep, grinding samples, labor type functions etc.

Cannot take time off since this project is very busy and will need all hands on deck! You will have weekends off.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
