Role: Senior Automation Engineer - Drives & Controls
Location: Can work out of either the CT or NY plant. Must be willing to train in NY plant for 6 months initially.
Travel: ~30% (Domestic & International)
Salary: $130,000 - $145,000
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support aftermarket drives and controls systems. This role will focus on developing PLC/HMI systems, integrating legacy equipment, and providing technical support for system upgrades and modernizations.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop PLC programs using ladder logic, function block diagrams, and flow charts
Design and implement HMI applications for web converting equipment
Design, review, and troubleshoot PLC network architecture
Configure and integrate AC/DC drive systems (including legacy hardware)
Perform in-house testing and validation of software/systems
Provide technical support during system start-up and commissioning (on-site and remote)
Assist sales with system assessments and technical documentation
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, sales, and service teams
Support ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and EHS&S initiatives Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
7-10 years of experience in Controls or Automation Engineering
Proficient in Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens PLC platforms
Hands-on experience with AC/DC drives, AutoCAD, and supervisory control systems
Strong knowledge of industrial control networks
Web handling or converting equipment experience is a plus
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex automation issues
Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills
Proficiency with Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and industrial programming tools:
