What You'll Do:

The Ohio Department of Health paid internship opportunities are designed for college students looking for on-the job experience to build the knowledge required to advance to the next stage of their education and careers.

Interning with the Ohio Department of Health offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the health and well-being in Ohio's communities. Interns will have the opportunity to network with professionals in the field and receive access to training and professional development. Some examples of projects our public health interns have worked on include:

Conducting research on the health effects of environmental pollutants

Reviewing and assessing health education programs for at-risk populations

Developing educational documents related to genetic conditions for families and physicians.

Analyzing data on health behaviors and outcomes to inform policy decisions.

The Pay Rate for internships will be determined by the student's current academic status.

Freshman or Sophomore - $18/hour

Junior or Senior - $20/hour

Graduate Student - $22/hour

Please note, this is a general application for paid internship opportunities. Your application will be made available to multiple hiring managers who have open positions compatible with your stated areas of interest. Paid Internship positions cannot be used for credit toward a Practicum requirement.

This position is unclassified per ORC 124.11(A)(29)

Position Qualifications

Currently pursuing a college degree in biological science, animal science, public health, or a related field

AND

Able to provide your own transportation to/from primary worksite (transportation for fieldwork will be provided, as necessary)

Educational Transcript Requirements:

Official educational transcripts are required for all post-high school educational accomplishments, coursework or degrees claimed on the application. Applicants will be required to submit an official transcript prior to receiving a formal offer of employment. Failure to provide transcripts within five (5) working days of being requested will cause the applicant to be eliminated from further consideration.

Please note that a transcript is considered "official" only if it is an original copy from the educational institution and includes an institutional watermark, ink stamp or embossed stamp. Transcripts printed from the institution's website will not be accepted. ODH reserves the right to assess the academic credibility of an educational entity's award of a putative degree.
