Summary

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA JOINT SERVICE PROVIDER.

Duties

Serves as an Information Technology (IT) Specialist developing policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems and networks

Serves as a technical expert in the area of information security, network security, monitoring, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments.

Performs and documents results of feasibility and requirements analysis studies for proposed network security applications.

Works closely with the DISA Joint Provider Pentagon Force Protection Agency (JPP) Cyber Security Lead to define IT security requirements and develop and coordinate activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems.

Serves in the DISA Joint Provider Pentagon Force Protection Agency (JPP) Cyber Security section and is responsible for the development and maintenance of information system-level IA programs that include architecture, certification.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements:

Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards

Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs

Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience

Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions

Qualifying Experience:

To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience reviewing, analyzing and resolving security problems involving multiple integrated network systems for classified and unclassified security levels, for supported organizations.

This position is in the Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is being recruited under 10 U.S.C. 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system.

If you are a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, you will be placed on an Excepted appointment.

This appointment does not confer eligibility to be non-competitively converted to an appointment in the competitive service.

Salary range includes a Targeted Local Market Supplement (TLMS) in accordance with Section 1599f of Title 10 U.S.C. and Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI) 1400.25, Volume 3006.

A three year trial period may be required if you have not previously completed a trial or probationary period in the excepted or competitive service.

Telework availability will be based upon the mission requirements and supervisory determination

Individuals tentatively selected for drug testing designated positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency will be required to submit to urinalysis for illegal drugs prior to appointment or placement.

The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION CRITICAL EMPLOYEE. Mission Critical employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor.

The Department of Defense (DoD) policy on employment of annuitants issued March 18, 2004 will be used in determining eligibility of annuitants.
