Position is available as a hybrid position in San Carlos, Bay Area, California as well as a remote position (within US).

Natera is currently seeking a Staff Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Oncology Bioinformatics Research team. The individual will be responsible for the planning and execution of research projects related to Oncology. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in algorithm development, sequencing data processing, and experience with full life cycle of product development. The individual will serve as a technical lead for various algorithm and diagnostic model development projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design, implement, and validate innovative algorithms and statistical methods to analyze large-scale data sets related to cancer diagnostic

Develop, enhance, and maintain analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including quality control

Deploy analysis pipelines on the cloud and optimize the resource utilization

Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence

Mentor and train other bioinformatics scientists

Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including engineering, biostats, and molecular biology teams to support the development of new products

Contribute to experimental design and ensure data integrity and quality control

Present results at conferences and publish in top-tier journals

QUALIFICATIONS:

PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or related field

Minimum of 6-8 years of working in the bioinformatics field and extensive cross-functional experience

Highly experienced in algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learning

Strong expertise in understanding and working with sequencing data

Track-record of leading and developing state-of-the-art and highly impactful computational methods

Experience in Python

Familiar with public genomic data bases for oncology (TCGA, cBioPortal, COSMIC etc.).

Experience integrating models into pipelines (e.g., AWS, Docker, SnakeMake, WDL)

High scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
