Job Description: Under the supervision of a senior technician or supervisor, this position is responsible for ensuring the continuous and reliable operation of various plumbing systems and equipment, including threaded, flanged, groove-locked, soldered, and pressed systems. The technician inspects, tests, installs, fabricates, modifies, rigs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of plumbing infrastructure.
Plumbing systems and equipment include, but are not limited to:
Compressed gas systems
Backflow preventers
Sump pumps
Drain, waste, and vent systems
Specialty water systems (e.g., chlorine dioxide, de-ionized water, reverse osmosis)
Domestic water systems and plumbing fixtures
Heating hot water systems
Chilled water systems
Assist other trades as needed to support cross-functional maintenance efforts.
Adhere to all safety practices and procedures.
Clean and maintain work areas and equipment to ensure a safe and organized environment.
Attend meetings and complete the required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Provide a high level of customer service in all interactions.
Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors using written, electronic, and verbal methods and devices.
Operate departmental vehicles as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The technician also responds to emergency situations, evaluates issues, and implements corrective actions as necessary.
Minium Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Two years of experience in the plumbing trade and with related equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient in the use of plumbing tools and equipment.
Basic understanding of plumbing code compliance.
Knowledge of plumbing fixtures (e.g., faucets, toilets, hot water tanks) and piping components (e.g., types of valves, fittings, and piping materials).
May require EPA Section 608 Technician Certification – Universal.
Successful completion of the probationary period.
Valid Driver's License.
Desired Qualifications:
Valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health certification.
Associate degree, technical degree, or certificate in a skilled trade or maintenance-related field.
Work hours and Pay Range:
The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $24.95 - $31.19.
The position works Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:30 pm. Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24-hour emergency call.
