Arts and Sciences Chemistry and Biochemistry Administration

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Research Technician to join our team. The Research Technician will study molecular mechanism of RNases related to human health and disease. The person in this position collects data using appropriate lab experiments, procedures, and techniques.

The candidate will help maintain day-to-day functions of the lab, helping to assist in establishing new experimental protocols and participate in novel research. The Research Technician will entail both independent and collaborative work, and will include learning new techniques, self-managings projects, and working in a team. This position includes opportunities for assisting in publication and laboratory experience that can provide a strong background for future applications to advanced degree programs. The Research Technician will also actively participate in weekly lab meetings.

Qualifications:

Required: A bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biological sciences, chemistry, or related field with 1 year of relevant experience in biochemistry, molecular or cell biology.

Desired:

Knowledge and experience with plasmid cloning and protein purification and with mammalian cell culture.

Experience with organization, inventory, and record keeping.

Excellent organizational and communications skills (both verbal and written).

Desire to work as part of a highly motivated team.

Additional Information:

The pay range for this job profile is $15.70 to $20.67 per hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
