Facilities Mechanical Rotating Equipment Technician

Department:

Administration and Planning FOD Operations Mechanical and Electrical

Under the direction of a senior technician or supervisor, this position supports the continuous operation of mechanical systems and equipment, with responsibilities that include structural welding. The technician inspects, tests, installs, fabricates, modifies, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of rotating equipment and systems.

Rotating equipment includes, but is not limited to:

Pumps

Compressors

Gearboxes

Belt drives

Blowers

Fans

The role also involves the fabrication and repair of structural steel components such as ladders, handrails, brackets, anchors, frames, animal pens, and gates. The technician responds to emergency situations, evaluates issues, and implements corrective actions as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

Assist other trades as required.

Follow all safety protocols and procedures.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment.

Attend meetings and complete required documentation accurately.

Deliver high-quality customer service.

Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and supervisors using written, electronic, and verbal methods.

Operate departmental vehicles.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Two years of experience in the maintenance or machinist trades, including work with related equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficient in the use of tools and equipment relevant to trade.

Basic understanding of university Building Design Standards (BDS) as they relate to the maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.

Familiarity with the project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction.

Valid Driver's license

Desired Qualifications:

Associate degree, technical degree, or vocational certificate in a skilled trade or maintenance-related field.

Possession of a boiler operator’s license (e.g., low pressure or high pressure).

Valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health certification.

Pay Range and Hours:

The Targeted Hiring Range for this position is $24.95 - $31.19 per hour.

Position works Monday-Friday from 7:00am-3:30pm Shift, hours, days, and/or location are subject to change based on operational need in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement; may work overtime; subject to 24-hour emergency call.
