Job Title: Automation Engineer

Location: Greater Syracuse, NY (On-Site)

Job Type: Full-time, direct hire

Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually depending on experience

About the Role:

We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our team, collaborating with Automation Technicians and Cell Managers to resolve automation-related challenges. The ideal candidate will leverage strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and develop solutions for automation issues. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive efficiency and customer satisfaction. Additionally, the Automation Engineer will oversee automation projects, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Manufacturing Develop and manufacture subassemblies and systems, including end-of-arm tooling, automated conveyors, and fixtures.

Process Improvement Partner with Production and Quality teams to implement and enhance automation systems.

Performance Monitoring Monitor and analyze automation performance during production runs to maintain efficiency and quality.

Sales Collaboration Assist the Sales team by providing automation-related quotes and support.

Equipment Specification Work with Mold Engineers and Cell Managers on selecting appropriate mold robots, conveyor systems, and other automated equipment.

Daily Operations Support Collaborate with automation teams to achieve production goals and address operational challenges.

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or GED and one of the following:

A four-year degree with at least two years of experience in manufacturing automation.

A two-year degree with at least eight years of relevant experience.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in CAD and Microsoft Office Suite.

Ability to read and interpret mold drawings.

Strong mathematical aptitude, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.

Logical and scientific reasoning skills.

Strong organizational and project management capabilities.

Adaptability to change and a continuous improvement mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Technology.
