Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provides assistance in planning, developing and evaluating budgets and expenditures
Evaluates departmental budget requests as to necessity
Monitors and controls expenditures against budgeted amounts
Estimates costs and forecasts revenues and expenditures
May analyze accounting data to determine amount of funds required to implement programs
Prepares departmental reports/analysis on a periodic basis
May assist in implementation enhancements to budget system to improve efficiency
May supervise accounting staff in completion of related duties
Reviews contracts for budgetary compliance
Performs special projects
Performs other related duties involved in the operation of the department as assigned or required
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or higher required. Degree in Business Administration or related field such as Accounting preferred.
Three (3) full-time years of work experience in finance, accounting, or budgeting, preferably in local government finance or public administration.
Must have excellent knowledge of cost accounting and budgeting principles and practices.
Must have advanced communication and presentation skills.
Must have advanced spreadsheet and word processing software experience.
