This recruitment will establish an Eligibility List for the current Guidance Assistant vacancy shown below as well as any future vacancies. This list will be active for three (3) months with the possibility to be extended.
The Guidance Assistant assists in the school guidance program by providing individual and/or small group instruction to pupils; maintain manual or computerized records; assist school staff with pupil discipline problems; contact parents, pupils, and district staff.
The following Guidance Assistant openings are currently available:
Rolando Park Elementary - 6620 Marlowe Drive San Diego, CA 92115 (Area F)
Scheduled for 10 months per year, 16 hours per week

Positions in this classification typically work 10 months of the year.
Set schedules for positions in this classification might vary but are typically 15-40 hrs per week.
Positions greater than 20 hours per week qualify for District Paid health and wellness benefits for employees and dependents.Some positions within this classification may require the incumbent to be Bilingual in English/Spanish. Candidates considered for positions that require bilingual skills will be invited to a Performance Test (Qualifying Only) for oral and written fluency. Bilingual positions qualify for a 5% bilingual differential.
This is a promotional/open opportunity, which means that current monthly-salaried employees receive precedence over other candidates on the eligible list.
For a promotional/open posting, the top ten internal applicants will be provided unless there is an insufficient number and then the list will be supplemented with the top external applicants to make up the ten (Employment Regulations for the Classified Service of the San Diego Unified School District: Article 2, Section 9).The Guidance Assistant will be paid on the ParaEducator Salary Schedule. Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to one year of experience working with children in counseling or guidance services.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid California driver's license and availability of private vehicle may be required for designated positions (mileage expense allowance provided). Personal appearance, grooming, and language pattern which will provide a satisfactory example to pupils.

EXAMINATION PROCESS:
Only those candidates whose application demonstrates a combined education and experience which meets the minimum requirements for the position(s) will be considered qualified and advanced in the examination process.

Guidance Assistant pass point 70% **Multiple-choice exams will be conducted remotely utilizing an online testing platform. Exam information will be communicated to candidates via email. Access to the internet and the use of a camera-ready desktop/laptop with a microphone are required to participate in these processes.
