Description:

This position performs technical duties in support of the county’s property appraisal process. This position is to provide technical support for office operations.

Job Duties

Provides information and assistance to taxpayers, including assistance with tax exemption/credit applications; answers questions about assessment appeal processes.

Answers telephone and emails and provides assistance to property owners, mortgage lenders, realtors, and others. Runs queries and reports as requested.

Uses appraisal and tax software and research engines to locate information.

Assists Appraisers in basic database maintenance; adjusts assessed values as instructed.

Enters deeds and verifies ownership changes.

Scans documents to maintain records.

Receive and log Informal Review applications and assign case to appropriate Appraiser; receive and log all Board of Review protest forms; correspond with tax payers and tax representatives as necessary; schedule inspections for Board of Review.

Processes Declaration of Values and assigns appropriate NUTC code for each sale; removes credits as necessary; runs monthly sales ratio reports; contacts buyer or seller on sales that are significantly outside the margins of a good sales ratio.

Inputs Declaration of Value data into Department of Revenue online portal.

Verifies appraiser’s value adjustments in appraisal software system and performs reconciliations utilizing tax software; determines appropriate reconciliation codes.

Processes splits and combinations of parcels; creates new parcels and software systems.

Inspects and measures residential property for new construction; computes and adds new construction to appraisal software system; reviews aerial photography for new construction or deletions of real estate.

Processes permits from entire jurisdiction.

Performs related duties.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or equivalent.

One to two years related work experience.

Ability to obtain a valid driver's license.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

Knowledge of modern office principles and practices.

Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures.

Knowledge of state Department of Revenue guidelines.

Skill in the provision of customer services.

Skill in completing basic mathematical calculations.

Skill in completing on-site inspections.

Skill in problem solving.

Skill in interpersonal relations.
