Position: High School Youth Employment Skills Trainer

Locations hiring: Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex, Mercer & Burlington Counties, NJ (youll be assigned to a specific county).

Salary: $43,500/year + benefits + paid training

SUMMARY:

As a High School Youth Employment Skills Trainer, youll work directly with high school students with disabilities, helping them build the skills and confidence they need to successfully transition from school to employment.

Youll partner with local school districts and the NJ Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) to deliver Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) to students aged 1421. The goal is to help students discover their strengths, explore careers, and prepare for competitive, integrated employment.

5 KEY AREAS:

Job Exploration Counseling Help students explore career interests and options.

Post-Secondary Counseling Provide guidance on education and training opportunities after high school.

Work-Based Learning Coordinate and support volunteer or paid work experiences.

Workplace Readiness Training Build social skills, communication, and independent living skills.

Self-Advocacy Instruction Teach students how to speak up for themselves and their goals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work one-on-one or in small groups (in-person and virtually) with high school students.

Travel throughout the assigned county using your own vehicle.

Customize and deliver lessons aligned with Pre-ETS goals and the five key areas above.

Collaborate with school staff, DVRS counselors, and community partners.

Develop work-based learning opportunities with local employers.

Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports.

Be a positive, motivating presence for students preparing for the workforce.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Must live in or near one of the counties listed above and be willing to travel within that county (mileage reimbursed).

Bachelors Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, or a related field (required).

Experience in job development or working with students with disabilities is a plus.A QUALIFIED CANDIDATE IS:

A strong communicator (written and verbal).

Passionate about helping young people succeed.

Proficient with technology and documentation.

Able to work independently in schools and the community (this is NOT a desk job).

Creative and has a flexible approach to teaching and mentoring.
